Sunrise Over Matagorda Bay is an oil painting on a 24 by 48 inch stretched canvas (stapled edges) with edges painted black and mounted in a beautiful black floater frame.  (Frame handmade by Jimmie) Frame is included and ready to hang out of the box.

This painting is very unique in origin of creation. My daughter took a picture of a sunrise which had a beautiful sky, but was over land which resulted in lots of darkness. So, I decided it would look better over water and painted it as a seascape. The painting took longer due to getting the physical composition and colors in harmony. Also, there are no man made objects in the composition. Nothing but the wide open spaces of sky and sea.

During the painting sessions, I was thinking back to the many fishing trips, my friends and I, had on Matagorda Bay. When out on the water, with the sun breaking through the darkness, one cannot help but feel the excitement of a new beautiful day being born! Thus, the title: Sunrise Over Matagorda Bay.

This large painting, in it’s floater frame, is a very impressive piece of fine art and would be a great painting to have in the home or business.
